The 15th annual 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon list was announced last night. Among the companies recognized, global multiservice public relations agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide (WE) ranked 24th on the list of 33 large companies.

In addition to the overall ranking, WE also took honors as a 100 Best category winner, tying for third place in the Employer Benefits Survey category.

The 100 Best list, presented by Oregon Business magazine, recognizes large, medium and small companies for excellence in attraction, retention and rewards, work environment, decision-making and trust, performance management, career development, and learning. This year is the first time that the 100 Best list was broken down into three categories with 33 companies ranked in the small category, 34 in the medium category and 33 in the large category.

A record-breaking 372 organizations – and nearly 30,000 of their employees – participated in this year's 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon survey, which analyzes Oregon companies' practices and policies designed to create and foster outstanding working environments. This is the fifth time WE has been recognized as an Oregon Best Company – the last time was in 2000 when WE ranked 34th.

In addition to the 100 Best list, Oregon Business magazine has released its 2009 PowerList of advertising, marketing and PR firms, with Waggener Edstrom Worldwide ranked No. 1 based on the number of employees in Oregon . This is the second year in a row that WE has ranked at the top of the list. Fifty-five companies from the Portland metro area were on the list.
